Advanced Group Facilitation Training
CMS and the Oregon Mediation Association (OMA) are pleased to co-sponsor an advanced training in the art of resolving group conflict.
We are honored to have Dr. Dudley Weeks as our trainer, who will be presenting his trademarked "Partnership LifeSkills" model in the context of group facilitation. Dudley's trainings and writings have enriched individuals, organizations and agencies throughout the U.S. and in more than 100 countries, and he has been twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his lifelong work in the field of conflict resolution. If you would like to learn more about Dudley and his work, click on the following link to his website: http://dudleyweeks.com/.
Participants will be able to practice the LifeSkills model, along with Dr. Weeks' "Principles for Effective Interaction," during the workshop in a variety of situations, and will come out of the training with the skills and confidence to be able to effectively facilitate the following types of group conflict:
-
Board of Directors Meeting - a high tension meeting where two or more factions of board members have formed to coalesce around conflicting visions for the organization;
-
Workplace Conflict - an interdepartmental or management/labor conflict that is consuming valuable energy and causing productivity and morale to decline;
-
Public Policy Dispute - a "public" conflict that arises when a city decides to develope a pristine piece of land into a park, with some neighbors in favor, others against, and several city departments involved in the controversy as well.
This training will be held on June 11, 2008, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and will take place in meeting space being provided by the First Church of the Nazarene, located at 727 W. Broadway, Eugene, Oregon.
The fee for this training, which will include materials, lunch and light refreshments, is $125 if your registration and payment are received on or before June 4, 2008. Late registration fee will be $150. You must register in advance - no walkins will be permitted.
We are pleased, and at the same time sorry, to report that this workshop has filled up and we are unable to accept any new registrations.
But please check back regularly for news of future trainings.
